Last year Nikon unveiled the Nikon 1 J4 mirrorless camera. So far Nikon’s mirrorless efforts haven’t been particularly exciting ,at least not compared to the likes of Sony or Olympus who have put forward more powerful and interesting hardware. That being said, what does Nikon have in store for us in the future?
According to a new rumor, if and when the Nikon 1 J5 is launched, it is expected to be able to capture video in 4K resolution. This is according to a report from Nikon Rumors who claims that the upcoming camera will have 4K capabilities. Assuming this is true, it will be the first camera from Nikon to have that feature.
It would also be an interesting choice as we would have expected Nikon to give that feature to one of their higher-end DSLR cameras, but perhaps the ability to capture 4K video could be what entices users over to their mirrorless lineup. Prior to this, a Nikon rep did mention 4K video and spoke about how it was a bit tricky, but perhaps Nikon has managed to sort it out.
No word on what else we can expect from the Nikon 1 J5, but Nikon Rumors believes that an official announcement for the camera should be made in the next few weeks, so until then be sure to take it with a grain of salt for now.
