Moto E Android 5.0.2 Soak Test Begins

It was reported about a week back that Motorola wanted volunteers who would be willing to trying out the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on their devices. They would provide the company with feedback which would go into fine-tuning the update. This is a common practice often referred to as a soak test. It appears that the soak test is now well and truly under way as some of the people who volunteered have started to receive Android 5.0.2 on their Moto E.

Android 5.0.2 is an incremental update that builds up on all of the improvements and additions that Google made with Android 5.0 Lollipop. It particularly brings some much needed stability and performance improvements for the device.

People who want to take part in a soak test must first become a member of the Motorola Feedback Network. They’re required to keep results of the soak test confidential and if they’re picked they get to play with the new software before everybody else.

It usually takes a couple of weeks after the soak test has been conducted for the update to be released for everybody in that particular region.

This way Motorola can get feedback about potential bugs and issues from users without putting a large number of users at risk. The company then has ample time to patch things up before it ultimately rolls out the software update for public consumption.
