Wouldn’t it be cheaper or better for Microsoft to develop their own calendar app? Possibly, but Sunrise is a pretty popular app amongst iOS users namely because of their clean and simple design, not to mention it also has the ability to source all your tasks and events from a variety of platforms such as Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, iCloud, and even social networking websites like Facebook.
This helps to consolidate a lot of information in a single app, making it a pretty decent go-to app if you’re the sort to schedule events across multiple platforms. TechCrunch reports that Microsoft could have paid as much as $100 million for the company, but unsurprisingly Microsoft has declined to comment on the report or even offer up a boilerplate response.
As it stands, the app is available for iOS devices, Android devices, as well as Mac devices where it is actually a free download. We’re not sure if Microsoft plans on closing it down post-acquisition, but for now it still seems to be up and running as per normal.
