In September last year Microsoft launched a new program which allowed students across the country to check and see if they were eligible for a free Office 365 license, which would then allow them to install the company’s productivity software for free. Microsoft has announced today that now students worldwide can check if they’re eligible and subsequently install Office apps for free.
Microsoft says that millions of students around the world are eligible for free Office from their school and today’s announcement makes it easier for them to check themselves whether they’re indeed eligible.
The company points out that this program covers more than 5.5 eligible students in Australia, almost 5 million in Germany, 7 million in Brazil and millions more in other countries around the world.
Students will require a valid school email address to complete the sign up. To check if they’re eligible students needs to visit office.com/getoffice365 and enter the email address that their school has provided.
Teachers have a separate page for themselves which can be accessed from office.com/teachers. Yes, teachers also get free office.
Once the sign up is complete Microsoft will provide the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access and Publisher for free which can be installed on up to five PCs or Macs and up to five mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. 1TB OneDrive storage and Office Online for in-browser collaboration are also included.
