Since last year we have been consistently hearing rumors that Apple is working on a new MacBook model. Much has already been said and written about the purported 12-inch MacBook. It is widely believed that this new machine will be released in the next few months. Apple has made no confirmation as yet. As per a new report once the 12-inch MacBook is public Apple is going to reduce the price of all MacBook Air models.
That wouldn’t really surprise anyone. The company reduced MacBook Air prices last year when the slightly updated models were launched. At the time many had expected major upgrades for the Air lineup but Apple only pushed it out with upgraded silicon.
12-inch MacBook Air is believed to be a whole other story. It is expected to have a high resolution display, a very thin and light profile, fanless design and Intel’s latest processors.
The price of this new notebook hasn’t even been rumored so there’s no yardstick to go on. As far as the Air lineup is concerned no major changes are expected to be made to those notebooks.
DigiTimes report also claims, citing sources from the Taiwan based supply chain, that Apple is likely to ship even more Macs this year. The shipments are reportedly going to touch 20-23 million units as opposed to 19.59 million units the same time last year.
