While we’re sure many of you guys are looking forward to what HTC has in store for us with their next-gen flagship smartphone, there are some out there who might not see the need to spend so much on a high-end smartphone and might only need something low-mid range. If you’re in that market, you might be interested to learn that HTC has a new Desire handset in the works.
According to a recent post by @upleaks, it seems that HTC could be working on a handset called the A55. The official name has not yet been revealed but it is part of HTC’s Desire lineup which seems to suggest that we could be looking at a mid-ranged handset, although if the rumors are to be believed, the A55 does appear to be a pretty well-specced handset.
Its display is rumored to be of the 5.5-inch variety and it will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 64-bit chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. It will be accompanied by 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a 20MP rear-facing camera, a 13MP/4MP front-facing camera, BoomSound speakers, and will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Not too shabby, huh? The rumors have also suggested that it will be launched later this month, although that does seem a bit odd given that HTC is hosting an event on the 1st of March which is during MWC 2015, but perhaps the event will be reserved for HTC’s flagship devices. Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us later in the month for the details.
