The Taipei Game Show kicked off last week and during a teaser, the image above was shown which led to many speculating that it could be a teaser for Metal Gear Rising 2. Given the success of the first Metal Gear Rising and the popularity of the Metal Gear franchise in general, it is fair to say that many were excited by the possibility.
Unfortunately for gamers who were hoping for it to be true, it looks like your hopes have been officially dashed. This is according to industry insider Geoff Keighley who debunked the speculation after getting the official word from both Hideo Kojima and Ken-Ichiro Imaizumi, both of whom have confirmed that the teaser was not that of Metal Gear Rising 2.
So what exactly was the teaser about? Well according Imaizumi, he has suggested that it was just a countdown and promotion for Sony’s booth at the Taipei Game Show. However some gamers have expressed their skepticism, especially considering that Konami had pulled similar stunts in the past with games like Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Silent Hill.
However for now, at least on the record, Kojima and Imaizumi are both denying that the teaser is that for Metal Gear Rising 2, but what do you guys think? Are you looking forward to a possible Metal Gear Rising 2 in the future?
