Google’s Rumored 2-In-1 Chromebooks Will Exit Development In Q1 2015 [Rumor]

chromebook-pixel-review-laptopsA couple of years ago Google launched the Chromebook Pixel which was basically a Chromebook with a beautiful design, impressive hardware specs, and a touchscreen display, although this was more of a laptop with a touchscreen display as opposed to the 2-in-1 hybrids we’ve seen running on Windows 8/8.1.

That being said could Google be thinking about launching such a device in the near future? According to a recent report from DigiTimes, the answer is yes and it seems that Google could finish the development of such a device in Q1 2015. Assuming this is true, perhaps Google might share more information at Google I/O 2015 which is taking place towards the end of May.

The rumored 2-in-1 device is said to run on Chrome OS, which is to be expected, but here’s the interesting thing – the display can be detached from its keyboard which would then turn it into a tablet, but it will not be a tablet running on Chrome OS, but it will automatically switch to the Android operating system!

DigiTimes claims that this move by Google could force Microsoft to lower the licensing fee for their Windows operating system in hopes that more OEMs will adopt it and move towards more 2-in-1 hybrid devices in the future. Be sure to take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Would this be a device you wouldn’t mind getting your hands on?
