Its kind of hard to keep track of all the different days people celebrate around the year so if something attached to those days slips through the cracks it is often understandable. Google’s latest announcement though isn’t going to slip through so easily seeing as how it promises an extra 2GB permanent bump in Google Drive storage for all users who complete a short Security Checkup. And why is the Mountain View company feeling so generous today? That’s because today is Safer Internet Day!
Google is reminding users how important online safety is this Safer Internet Day and giving them a good incentive to take a simple Security Checkup which will barely take two minutes.
The company reminds us that everything stored in Drive is always encrypted in transit and while its at rest in Google’s data centers, this checkup will ensure that users are “making the most” of this protection that they already receive from Google.
As it way of saying thanks to those who take out time to complete the Security Checkup by February 17th, 2015 Google is going to give those users a permanent 2GB storage increase in their Drive storage plan.
The checkup quickly ensures that account recovery information is current, lets users view recent sign-in activity and confirms apps and devices that are allowed to access some account information.
Free 2GB permanent storage bump will be granted to all those who participated by February 28th, 2015. An email will be sent to notify users about the adjustment.
