It was back in December when Samsung started to release Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy S5. At the time this update was only released for Snapdragon-powered handsets in a few markets. Since then the roll out has been expanded to cover additional markets as well but those who had an Exynos-powered model were out of luck. Samsung is finally giving them some attention. Galaxy S5 SM-G900H Android 5.0 Lollipop update is rolling out starting today.
The update is rolling out but the pace is very slow. So far Samsung has only seeded the update in Kazakhstan. It will take a considerable amount of time before everyone with an Exynos-powered Galaxy S5 is covered but they should rest assured. The update is definitely coming.
Those who have the Galaxy S5 SM-G900H can update the device over-the-air or hook it up to a PC and do it through Samsung Kies. The update won’t show up if it hasn’t been released for your market yet so keep that in mind.
There is nothing fundamentally different about the Lollipop update for Snapdragon and Exynos powered variants. It brings everything that’s included in Android 5.0 Lollipop, things like Material Design, lock screen notifications, better performance, updated native apps and more apart from Samsung’s own customizations to the TouchWiz skin.
