Statistics – some folks read too much into it and are certainly adept at making a meal of the situation, especially if it can be presented in a way that favors a particular perspective, while others simply see statistics as basic numbers and figures without reading too much into the situation. Well, we do know that more than 3 million people play Destiny every single day (as of the end of last year, anyway), and if you so happen to be intrigued by the kind of figures that involve Destiny, here is another from Activision themselves – the fact that over 16 million people have already registered to indulge themselves in this science fiction shooter.
The gamemaker was also not shy to trumpet its other achievements on the gaming scene, having made mention of its success with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, where that particular title happened to be the top-selling console game last year.
Eurogamer deputy editor Wesley Yin-Poole did mention that not talking about the sales figures for Destiny and Advanced Warfare had “troubled analysts”, citing that the CoD series is no longer the force of nature that it once was. Will Destiny have the kind of staying power of the CoD series in due time? We will have to wait and see.
