BlackBerry has a pretty good relationship with Amazon now. The Amazon Appstore ships preinstalled on BlackBerry’s new devices and with a new software update today the company has integrated the Appstore into older devices as well. The next step in this relationship is the arrival of BBM. BlackBerry has confirmed today that the BlackBerry Messenger will now be available for download through the Amazon Appstore which any Android user can access.
BBM is already available on the Google Play Store so its not like Android users face any difficulty in downloading this cross-platform messenger.
However seeing as how Amazon’s own smartphone, the Fire Phone, only comes with the company’s Appstore this would allow users to download BBM on their handsets with ease.
Any Android user can install the Amazon Appstore on their device. The company usually offers a free app every day so its a good place to get free apps, plus Amazon also runs promotions which provide users with lots of free or heavily discounted apps.
The latest version of BBM for Android brings more privacy control and options, features like Timed Messages with which users can decide for how long the recipient can view their photo or text message, and Message Retraction which lets users pull a message they’re sent by mistake to someone.
