When I played Assassin’s Creed Unity I didn’t like the fact that to access some content in the game I had to install a companion app on my smartphone. The app itself wasn’t exactly the best and Ubisoft even went so far to lock some content behind its Initiates website. Fortunately this futile exercise is being eliminated from Assassin’s Creed Unity courtesy of the patch that has been released today. No longer will players need to visit these sources to unlock certain chests scattered around the game’s virtual world.
Ubisoft has confirmed today that it is unlocking all content previously exclusive to Initiates and the Companion app, this includes both blue and gold chests, the app will stick around and players will be able progress on it but the app will no longer be required just for the purpose of unlocking these chests.
The content locked behind the Initiates website has also been opened up. Previously Ubisoft had provided access to all online players when the website went into maintenance over Christmas last year.
The latest Assassin’s Creed Unity patch is being rolled out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today. Ubisoft will release the patch for PC tomorrow, meanwhile it has put up the entire changelog of this patch up on its website.
