Apple is said to be in talks with television programmers that would allow the company to offer up web-based TV services that would deliver customized television packages. The content would be streamed over the internet and will feature channels offered by participating content providers, all the while featuring Apple’s own interface.
In a way Apple would not be reinventing the TV, but rather offering their own take on it. So how far along is this rumored service? Apparently pretty far along as Apple has reportedly been showing off demos the service to potential programmer partners, although when exactly Apple will come to an agreement with these partners and when it would be released remains to be seen.
Considering that other services from the likes of Dish and Sony have started to offer web-based models, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that Apple sees it as a new way for users to consume their content which might explain their interest in a service of their own. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think of an Apple web-based TV service? Is that something you would subscribe to?
