Earlier today we started hearing reports that a new software update was being sent out to some Android Wear smartwatches, these included devices like the LG G Watch, Moto 360 and the Sony Smartwatch 3. A new software update has indeed been released for these smartwatches, Android Wear 5.0.2 brings a variety of bug fixes and stability improvements for the wearable devices.

Unfortunately there is no need to get your hopes up since this is not a major release. And because it is not a major release no new features are included in Android Wear 5.0.2, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore this update altogether.

Some very important bug fixes and system-wide tweaks are included in this update which will improve the overall stability of the device.

Motorola’s release notes for Moto 360 state that this release brings the updated Google Play Services as well as a “variety of system optimizations and security updates to improve performance and stability.”

Some of the users who have already installed Android Wear 5.0.2 on their wearable devices report a slight increase in the watch’s speed and they no longer see app failing to launch like before.

This update also fixes Google Fit Sync issues particularly the discrepancies that users were seeing in step counting between smartwatches and smartphones.

Android Wear 5.0.2 is now being rolled out for all supported wearable devices. When the update arrives a notification will pop up on your smartwatch.
