Apple has stores both physical and online. This allows customers to choose to either walk into a store, play with the product, and purchase it, or they can do that from the comfort of their own home if they already know what they are doing. Amazon on the other hand is pretty much all virtual, meaning that you will need to know what you’re buying before you buy it.
However according to a report from Bloomberg, word on the street has it that Amazon could be thinking about buying up some of RadioShack’s locations. As some of you might have heard, RadioShack is filing for bankruptcy and that some of their stores could be sold to Sprint as part of a deal with the carrier, however it also seems that Amazon wants in on the deal as well.
The stores purchased by Amazon are said to act as showcases where the company can use to display some of their products in actual physical stores. These stores could also double up as pickup locations where Amazon customers can collect their purchases instead of having them delivered to their homes, which in some instances might be more convenient.
RadioShack has around 4,000 stores located across the US and at the moment are said to be considering selling some while closing down the rest. Sprint is said to be interested in buying as many as 1,300-2,000 locations. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think of a physical Amazon store?
