However according to the latest stats released by ABI, it seems that global shipments of Android have seen a decline in Q4 2014. According to their numbers, the Android platform saw 205.56 million smartphones shipped in that quarter, versus the previous quarter which saw 217.49 million Android smartphones shipped. This represents a decline of 5%.
It is unclear as to why Android shipments have fallen, but some are speculating that it could be due to the success of the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. In fact this seems to corroborate an earlier claim in which it was revealed that there have been more users switching over from Android to iOS. ABI’s data also reveals that there is a slight dip in forked builds of Android as well.
However as for iOS and Windows Phone, both have seen an increase by 90% and 19% respectively. However Windows Phone is still very far behind both platforms but the fact that it is on the rise still bodes well for Microsoft.
