There are many businesses that allow customers to pay using their mobile devices these days. Mobile-based payments services have grown substantially in the past couple of years, and just last year Apple came out with one of its own, so businesses have adopted the new systems so that their customers don’t go elsewhere. This is not the case with most restaurants, and other similar establishments though, but change is definitely around the corner.
Verifone has launched a new wireless terminal which would allow restaurants to accept mobile payment. The Payware Mobile e355 wireless terminal is portable so it can be brought right to the table. It can accept NFC transactions so services like Google Wallet and Apple Pay will both be compatible from the get go, among a host of others.
This means that patrons will not have to brandish their credit cards or even worry about having enough cash in hand to settle the bill. They’ll simply use mobile payment like they already do at places like drug stores.
There will be significant wait involved before this new terminal becomes commonplace. For starters Verifone will not be shipping e355 until this summer and even then patrons will have to wait for their favorite establishments to acquire the new Verifone terminal before they start accepting mobile payment.
