According to a report from a couple of days ago, it was suggested that Xiaomi could be thinking about launching a device called the Mi Box Mini that would basically be a competitor to the Google Chromecast. Well as it turns out it looks like the rumors were right on the money as Xiaomi has officially announced the Mi Box Mini.
As you can see in the image above, the Mi Box Mini is well, mini. It looks about the size of a ring box and interestingly enough unlike the Chromecast, the Mi Box Mini will not be plugging into your television, but rather it will plug into your wall socket. The device will feature a Cortex-A7 quad-core processor under its hood, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of onboard storage.
It will connect to displays using a full sized HDMI port and will feature both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. The Bluetooth has been included so that users will be able to control the device via its bundled remote control. It will be able to output a 1080p Full HD signal and will also come with support for Dolby DTS audio.
So how much will the Mi Box Mini cost you? Well according to Xiaomi, the company has priced it at 199 RMB which is roughly $30, making it a pretty affordable device.
