[CES 2015] 3D printing is a growing industry that is moving out of its niche and into mainstream consciousness, and Digital Wax Systems (or DWS in short) happens to be a leading manufacturer of 3D printers for industrial, dental and biomedical, and jewelry industries, has decided to introduce their XFAB 3D printer. The XFAB has been touted to be the first affordable, high-end 3D printer, which will be made available for purchase worldwide some time in the first quarter of this year – which means March 2015 would be the latest time for it to roll out.
Touted to be the most accurate laser on the consumer market, XFAB will rely on similar technology that is found in industrial high-end printers, and yet it does not break the bank and is also compact enough to see action on your home workspace. Specially designed for designers, inventors and engineers who want to come up with high-quality 3D printed items in a jiffy without wasting material, the XFAB will sport a sticker price tag of $5,000 exclusive of taxes and duties.
Laser stereolithography will be used to come up with 3D models, resulting in more precise details as well as opening up a whole new world of materials to the consumer to make use of. Among the materials that will play nice with the XFAB include acrylate resin, ABS, polypropylene, rigid opaque, transparent, rubber, ceramic and castable wax.
