Windows 10 Upgrade Is Free For A Year For Select Users

windows10-free-upgradeSo, Windows 10 has just been announced by the folks over at Microsoft, and what kind of goodies can existing Windows users expect from the software giant? How about this bit of news that is sure as heck to put a smile on your face? Microsoft is set to offer a free upgrade to Windows 10 for a year to those who happen to run on the following operating system versions – Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1. In other words, there is no need for those who have already made the jump to fork out additional dough for a system update.

Terry Myerson, chief of Microsoft’s operating systems division, shared, “Once a device is upgraded to Windows 10, we’ll be keeping it current for the supported lifetime for the device.” It has been said that the newly announced operating system happens to be “one of the largest internet services on the planet.”

When will Windows 10 roll out then? It will happen some time later this year, and we are clearly on the edge of our seats to know more on the exact release date. Still, this should be reason enough to be happy knowing that once one had already made the jump to Windows 7 or newer, there is no need to spend more money just to keep up with the times. Small organizations will probably heave a sigh of relief as well.
