At today’s Windows 10 event, one of the most obvious as well as biggest announcements would be that of Windows 10 rolling out to the masses some time later this year. The thing is, there are also smatterings of other “smaller” announcements that have to do with the company, such as Cortana being built into Windows 10 right from the get go. How about the gaming side of Microsoft? How will that fit into the overall plans of Windows 10? Here is the answer to that question – it looks like universal Windows apps will be made available on the Xbox One with Windows 10.
It has been mentioned by Terry Myerson, head of Microsoft’s Windows division, that Windows 10 will see the arrival of universal Windows apps on the Xbox One. This confirmation has been a long time in coming, especially when it was at the Build conference last year that Microsoft first announced plans to introduce universal apps regardless of whichever platform one was using at the moment – be it a computer, tablet, smartphone, or a console like the Xbox One. In other words, the program would enable developers to come up with a solitary app that will run across multiple device types, saving money and time in the process. You don’t just kill two birds with this particularly potent stone, that is for sure!
