Casio isn’t new to the world of music. The company is already known for making keyboards but its latest products, shown off at CES 2015, will help it reach out to the youth in particular. Casio has launched the new Trackformer series of DJ equipment which will enable budding DJs and musicians to follow in the footsteps of their favorite producers are DJs. The design might look familiar to a lot of Star Wars fans, the Trackformer series resembles the Millenium Falcon.
XW-DJI allows users to test their skills at the infamous “scratching” DJ style while creating or mixing tracks, courtesy of its 7-inch scratch disc, while the XW-PD1 with its 16-pad sampler and synthesizer brings preset patterns from professional beat makers covering genres like EDM and Trap.
Both have built-in speakers, are battery powered and can be hooked up to PC, Mac or iOS device through a proprietary cable. There’s an element of portability to the Trackformer products but it would be better to use external speakers if you’re willing to show off you DJ-ing skillz at a party.
Later this month the Casio XW-DJ1 will be available from select retailers nationwide for $299. Those who are interested in the XW-PD1 Groove Center will have to wait until March when they will finally be able to pick one up for $399.
