A couple of weeks from now Microsoft is going to show off the consumer version of Windows 10. The next iteration of its popular desktop operating system was first announced last year after which a technical preview was released. We have had to wait long enough for the consumer version to see all of the features it brings. It was rumored recently that Microsoft is working on an entirely new web browser codenamed “Spartan” for Windows 10. A screenshot has been published online which claims to show Spartan in action.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has bled substantial market share to rivals like Chrome, Firefox and Apple’s Safari. It would make sense for the company to come up with a completely new browser that even has new branding since IE is tainted anyway. Rumor has it that Spartan will look and feel a lot like Chrome and Firefox, and will even have support for extensions.

BGR claims to have received a screenshot of a “slightly older beta” of Spartan loading up a Facebook page. From the looks of it the new browser has a minimalistic design with a very clean user interface.

As per the report this browser will support voice commands to users will simply say “go to Twitter.com” or “add to favorites” for the browser to perform that action. Windows 10 itself is going to bring an integration of Cortana, a virtual private assistant that debuted on Windows Phone.

So far the final name for this browser hasn’t appeared online, it is only known as Spartan for now, perhaps Microsoft will clear things up when it makes the consumer version of Windows 10 public later this month.
