While plenty of attention has been going in the direction of Microsoft’s recently announced Windows 10 operating system, there are also other goodies from the software giant that is worth looking into. In fact, one might actually be fooled into thinking that Microsoft could be entering the TV business with the introduction of the Surface Hub. The Surface Hub is a behemoth when you compare it against the likes of other smaller offerings (relatively speaking, of course), which will include the likes of Surface tablets and Lumia smartphones. In a nutshell, the Surface Hub happens to be a massive All in One PC that will be loaded with the likes of sensors, speakers, Wi-Fi connectivity, NFC support, a microphone, and a camera, among others.
While it might feature 84” of viewing goodness, when you look beyond the physical size of it, it is more or less a business or collaboration tool. In other words, a really, really high tech whiteboard for the office. Microsoft might have plans for this to end up as the epicenter of the modern workplace. Hence, it comes across as no surprise at all for Skype for Business to be integrated into it so that you can dive straight in from the get go. No idea on how much it will cost though…
