Sony’s The Interview has been released in some theaters as well as having been released online via channels such as Google Play, YouTube, and iTunes. While the movie might not necessarily have gotten the best of reviews, many are still intrigued by it as this was a movie that was supposedly the reason why Sony got hacked in the first place.
Well the good news is that if you were hoping to catch the movie on cable or satellite TV, word on the street has it that Sony is apparently on discussions with companies such as Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and DirecTV to bring the show onto their networks. This is according to a report from The Wall Street Journal who claims that Sony Pictures’ CEO Michael Lynton was the one who stepped in personally to make sure that these deals happen.
It is unclear as to when The Interview will be made available via these channels, but it is said that it should become available for either purchase or rent in the next few days, so we guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding its availability. In the meantime Sony has been enjoying a fair bit of success with the movie.
It has managed to pull in about $15 million in revenue and is Sony’s best selling online movie to date. It has also managed to top the charts on Google Play and YouTube despite its negative reviews, but like we said the hack on Sony Pictures and the demand by the hackers have certainly made many curious about it.
