Well, times have definitely changed, this is for sure, and SanDisk intends to move in the right direction where the consumer SSD space is concerned through a couple of new models – the 2.5″ entry level drive known as the SanDisk SSD Plus and the SanDisk Ultra II mSATA SSD, which so happens to be a spanking new form factor for the SanDisk Ultra II SSD product range.

Targeting desktop and notebook users who would want to enjoy a significant improvement in its system performance, the SanDisk Ultra II mSATA SSD will target notebook and tablet users who can then look forward to an increased capacity and overall performance where mSATA-enabled systems are concerned.

Basically, the end user gets faster speeds, extended battery life and upgraded systems, all without having to break the bank. With the SanDisk SSD Plus, it is said to deliver faster boot and load times not to mention a better overall system performance, doing away with the need to replace the entire slowpoke notebook or desktop.

As for the SanDisk Ultra II mSATA SSD, it will deliver competitive performance, complete with read speeds of up to 550MB/s, which adds up to 512GB of storage space for you to maximize your mSATA-enabled notebook and/or tablet.

Not only that, both the SanDisk SSD Plus and SanDisk Ultra II mSATA SSD will boast of a downloadable SanDisk SSD Dashboard application, where it delivers management tools such as drive performance and health monitoring, manual or scheduled TRIM, notifications for firmware updates, and tips on how one can maintain the drive at its peak operation.

Expect the SanDisk SSD Plus to feature a 3-year warranty as it arrives this Q1 in 120GB and 240GB capacities that will retail for $69.99 and $109.99, respectively.

As for the SanDisk Ultra II mSATA SSD, it too, will come with a 3-year warranty and arrive in Q1 this year in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities with price tags of $73.99, $115.99 and $220.99, respectively.
