Many Samsung users would agree that the company’s Kies desktop software isn’t the best of its kind, but it comes in handy when making backups is absolutely necessary or the need arises to manually flash firmware. Kies can also be used for content management on the company’s devices. Rumor has it that Samsung is working on a major update for its desktop software which will be released over the next couple of months.
Citing an unnamed insider Sammobile reports that Samsung is currently working on a new version of Kies. One of the biggest changes that Samsung is expected to bring into Kies 4 would be a whole new user interface.
The report suggests that Samsung’s new user interface for Kies 4 is going to have the same design language as we have seen from the company on its Lollipop update for supported devices, or the design language that we’ll see from Samsung on the Galaxy S6.
So far it is not known for sure whether new features will be added to the desktop software as well but support for all devices that could be used with Kies 2 and 3 is rumored to be onboard.
The launch date is expected to be at some point in Q1, 2015 and the possibility exists that it might be released after Samsung launches the Galaxy S6, which could happen by April.
