According to new rumors, it has been suggested that Samsung will not be offering water and dust resistance with the Galaxy S6. Instead the rumors claim that Samsung will choose to offer those protective features to the Galaxy S6 Active instead, or whatever it will be called. Samsung had previously done that with the Galaxy S4 Active which was basically the water resistant version of the Galaxy S4, so it does not seem like a huge stretch.
So why is Samsung potentially skipping out on these protective features? The rumors claim that Samsung is looking to lower the production costs of the handset. Apparently the use of metal and glass in the Galaxy S6’s design is costing Samsung more than they had expected, and definitely more than if they had gone for plastic.
It is because of the rising costs that Samsung has opted to omit these protective features in a bid to scale back on their expenses. Of course it should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Would you mind terribly if the Galaxy S6 came without these protective features?
