Samsung Galaxy S6 Might Drop Snapdragon 810 Due To Delays [Rumor]

samsung-logoEarlier this month we caught wind of a rumor that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset could be delayed again. Apparently this has something to do with the chipset allegedly facing overheating issues. Well the bad news is that this problem does not only affect Qualcomm, but the companies that Qualcomm supplies to.

Samsung is one of those companies and according to a recent report from DigiTimes, word has it that the delay in the Snapdragon 810 chipsets could force Samsung to drop the use of the chipset in the upcoming Galaxy S6. Yes, instead of waiting around for Qualcomm to figure out and fix the issue, the rumors are claiming that Samsung will just proceed without Qualcomm entirely.

As you might have heard, the rumors claim that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S6 that is either powered by Samsung’s own Exynos chipset, or the Qualcomm chipset. However with the delay, Samsung is said to proceed in favor of using its Exynos chipset instead. DigiTimes’ sources claim that Samsung will have 80-90% of their phones use the Exynos chipset, but once Qualcomm addresses the issues with the Snapdragon 810, Samsung will slowly balance out the ratio.

We suppose this is semi-good news as it means that the Galaxy S6 will not be delayed, but for those who were looking forward to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, do take it with a grain of salt for now but do check back with us at a later date for the details.
