This accessory is a prototype called the Third Eye. Basically it’s an attachment that one places on the Google Glass headset and it gives the wearer thermal vision. So what does one need thermal vision for? Well for the average user, maybe they won’t need such a feature, but perhaps it can be used to help screen others for fevers, like at airports where airport personnel can look out for passengers with high temperatures.
According to Ivan Arbouzov, the president and founder of Round Concept, “We will fight Ebola by adding a smart glass to the arsenal of airport personnel and let them immediately identify passengers with fever. It will even work automatically and trigger a daylight camera on the glass to identify the person.”
Alternatively, Third Eye can also be used as a smartphone attachment and other headsets that have image processing capabilities. Round Concept will be demonstrating their product at CES 2015 this week, but no word on when it will be officially launched.
