[CES 2015] Rollkers intends to change the way you walk – in fact, walk twice as fast. This is an add-on, so to speak, to your pair of shoes, pretty much in the same way Montblanc has a way to tack on something to your watch so that it can become a smartwatch. The Rollkers has been touted to be an ideal personal transit accessory which is said to be able to increase one’s walking rate up to 7 miles an hour – how about that?
Being different from inline skates, there is no need for any kind of training to help you get started. After all, Rollkers are immediately balncing, which means you need not have to clock up a fair number of hours of practice beforehand. In addition, the Rollkers have been specially developed to offer a more environmentally friendly method of getting around – and this vision is aided by a self sufficient battery.
Having a small and light form factor, the devices make them a snap to tote around everywhere. Best of all is, it fits all different sizes of shoes, and are totally hands-free. I do wonder whether it is advisable to put on a fair number of protective gear such as elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist protectors alongside a helmet to get around. Not only that, what does the local council think of this – is it a “mode of transportation” of sorts?
