The Nintendo Power Glove sounds pretty cool in theory, but in reality, is was about as successful as the Nintendo Virtual Boy. In other words, it was an utter failure. However, the creativity of humans has seen the poor Power Glove gain a new lease of life previously – such as it being able to control a full body rave suit, or how about using it to control other games than the ones it was originally meant for? Animator Dillon Markey has a very different idea – to make use of the Nintendo Power Glove as a stop motion animation tool.
In order to achieve this vision, he had to perform a fair bit of modifications in the first place, and Bluetooth connectivity has been thrown into the mix of course, so that he is now able to navigate through his production software without the need to tote around a tethered remote or walk over to a PC, which could result in a significant amount of time saved. After all, it does take minutes to capture a single video frame – so to have this augmented gauntlet is a boon in his line of work.
Not only that, this modified Power Glove will also sport retractable tweezers that allows it to manipulate small stop-motion figures. Talk about riding into the sunset with more functionality than ever before!
