Panasonic-CM1-US-launch-01Back in September last year, Panasonic surprised everyone with the launch of the Panasonic CM1. This is an Android smartphone by Panasonic and what made the device particularly interesting is the fact that there is a 1-inch 20MP sensor with a Leica lens strapped to the back of the phone.

We’re sure many were looking forward to getting their hands on the device but unfortunately back then, the Panasonic CM1 was limited to select European markets. Well the good news is that according to reports, word has it that Panasonic will finally be bringing the Panasonic CM1 stateside this summer.

No specific dates have been mentioned and Panasonic will also be selling the phone unlocked and in GSM flavor, meaning that it will play nicely with carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile. Verizon and Sprint customers will have to sit this one out. Unfortunately it also means that customers will have to pay full price which is set at around $1,000 – yikes!

In terms of specs as a quick recap for those who might have missed it, the Panasonic CM1 will feature a 4.7-inch Full HD display. It will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor under the hood clocked at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (expandable), LTE support, and will come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
