We have been hearing that Oppo has plans on launching a new phablet device called the Oppo U3. If you were interested in seeing what Oppo had to offer, you’re in luck because the handset has been officially announced in China. Given that it was launched in China, there is a good chance it might only be available in China or the Asian region, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled anyway.
That being, what can we expect from the Oppo U3? As it turns out the previous rumors were right on the money in terms of its specs. The handset will sport a whopping 5.9-inch display with a Full HD resolution. Under the hood, Oppo has gone with a MediaTek MT6752 chipset clocked at 1.7GHz and will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM.
The phone will come with a default of 16GB of storage that can be expanded via microSD, and will also sport a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and will also support 4G LTE connectivity. There will be dual SIM support, a 3,000mAh battery, and will run on Oppo’s Color OS 2.0.1 which is essentially based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
In terms of pricing, it seems to be in line with Oppo’s method of pricing which is affordable. At a conversion of roughly $451, the Oppo U3 isn’t too expensive given its hardware, but like we said it seems to be only available for the Chinese market at the moment.
