Well it looks like Polaroid has decided that it was a pretty cool idea and with the Polaroid Selfie phone that was launched, the company has opted for a very similar design, as you can see in the image above. As it turns out being copied is not an enjoyable process and it looks like Polaroid could find themselves in a legal situation.
In a statement released by Oppo, “OPPO has not licensed the design of the rotating camera to any third parties, nor has us done that in any OEM way. We will continue to keep track of the event and reserves the right to take further legal action.” The company has not mentioned if they will be taking legal action, but only that they could if they chose to go down that path.
It should be noted that swiveling cameras aren’t new and Oppo is certainly not the first one to come up with the idea. It is also unclear as to whether Oppo will be following through with their threat of legal action, but in the meantime it is a little ironic that for once Chinese companies are the ones who are being copied, as opposed to being the ones who do the copying as some are known to do.
