Consoles such as the Sony PS4 have enjoyed a relatively successful run so far since its release to the worldwide markets, and with no signs of it slowing down whatsoever, it makes perfect sense that there is a healthy opportunity to release peripherals for it – and by that, I do not mean by a controller of a different color, but something that adds value to the PS4 experience for the gamer – hardcore or otherwise. Nyko sees such a window of opportunity, and hence they have decided to announce the Nyko Type Pad.
The Nyko Type Pad, as its name suggests, has everything to do with the ability for you to type on a console. This particular peripheral comes with a full QWERTY keyboard attachment which will snap easily onto the bottom of DUALSHOCK 4 controllers. In other words, it would make life a whole lot more convenient and easier for one to chat with friends whenever they are involved in a multiplayer gaming session, and there is also a mini-analog nub that allows one to enjoy quick menu navigation as well as a “.com” shortcut so that input becomes all the more convenient.
Not only that, players need not have to worry about having to juice up the Nyko Type Pad on a separate note, since it can be charged simultaneously with the controller via any standard micro-USB cable. Better yet is the idea of letting it be switched off when not in use to conserve battery life even further. The Nyko Type Pad happens to play nice with all Bluetooth keyboard-enabled apps and games, and while we have no word on its pricing, it is tipped to ship in 1H of 2015.
