Nikon: What’s New For The Year 2015

Nikon-logo[CES 2015] Nikon does not want to be left out from all of the hot and heavy action that is going on at CES this year, and they intend to treat the crowd to unique experiences that will include The Nikon 360° Project and the Nu Reality Desert Home, where all of those will be powered by the latest Nikon camera equipment and gear – but of course, we would not have expected anything less, would we?

Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. shared, “The Nikon booth at this year’s CES will showcase the advanced technologies that have come to fruition using Nikon’s cutting-edge digital imaging products. We aim to partner with the most innovative teams to help tell great stories. Additionally, Nikon’s newly announced products will be on full display. We encourage attendees to get a first-hand look and experience the new interactive elements at the Nikon Booth throughout the show.”

Expect the latest entry-level compact DSLR from Nikon to be on display – the Nikon D5500, which will feature the likes of integrated Wi-Fi, a Vari-angle LCD screen with touch operation, HD video capture and a 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, retailing for $899.95 for the body only, while there is also the new $349.95 AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR II zoom lens alongside the $1,999.95 AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR telephoto lens, which is touted to be the world’s lightest 300mm full-frame fixed focal length AF lens by virtue of shaving off close to 30% the length of its predecessor, not to mention being 1.5 lbs. lighter.

Apart from that, the Nu Reality Desert Home happens to be a project that was developed in conjunction with Nurulize. This is a virtual reality exhibit that will boast of a visually stunning immersive photorealistic experience, letting participants to be transported to a beautiful and tranquil desert home – minus the belly dancing girls, of course. This is made possible thanks to the combination of industrial scanning mapping alongside high-resolution images captured using the Nikon D810 at different exposures.

As for the Nikon 360° Project, this will be on site to shoot frozen moments from all angles, where it is achieved using 48 Nikon D750 cameras, and working alongside The Big Freeze, the two will make use of custom designed automated software so that visitors can capture and playback full 360-degree frozen moments and slow motion captures, all in HD, 5K resolutions and in vivid 360 degree scenes.
