It does seem to resemble a variant of the new Xiaomi Redmi 2 (which was what we reported on earlier this year), although that model would cost CNY 700, this new one that is fresh off the certification process will cost a mere CNY 400 – when converted, it would amount to an extremely affordable $65, now how about that?
Perhaps the low entry cost has something to do with Xiaomi agreeing to a deal with local chipset manufacturer Leadcore Technologies, allowing Xiaomi access to LTE on the cheap. Other hardware specifications include a 4.7″ 720p display, Android 4.4.4 KitKat as the operating system of choice, 1GB RAM, a quad-core 1.6GHz processor, an 8MP Full HD camera at the back, and 8GB of internal memory. TD-LTE and FDD-LTE connectivity are part of the mix, and it remains to be seen as to when this particular device will be released.
