Earlier this week it was confirmed that The Interview is going to arrive on Netflix. The online video streaming service has followed through on this promise and has started streaming The Interview. This controversial movie can now be streamed on demand by any and all Netflix subscribers. Its yet another move by Sony, relying on digital distribution, to get this movie out in front of as many people as possible.
The Interview is a comedy movie with a fictional plot that revolves around two journalists tasked by the CIA to assassinate Kim Jong Un who is the leader of North Korea.
North Korea didn’t mince words in its various statements against this movie and before it was due to be released in theatres there was a massive cyberattack on Sony Pictures Entertainment which caused the studio to pull its theatrical release.
FBI pointed the finger at North Korea and said that it was responsible for the cyberattack. The country denied while the U.S. slapped extra sanctions for its alleged role in the entire episode.
Sony later released The Interview through various online distribution channels and the movie earned a respectable amount of money. Now its available to all Netflix subscribers in the U.S. or Canada on demand.
