Many Netflix fans would agree that the recommendation feature offered by this online video provider is pretty good. It can leverage the users’ viewing habits and then recommend appropriate content that they might be interested in, as a Netflix user I have found this feature to often bring up content that I had never heard about before but really found it to interest me. Now apart from movies, TV shows and documentaries Netflix is also going to start recommending TVs.
That’s right, the company is kicking off a new program through which it will recommend TV sets to users so that they can get the best possible Netflix experience at home. Through this program Netflix will recommend the best television sets for its streaming service.
The program will be set into motion this spring. Select TV sets from manufacturers like Sony, LG, Vizio, Sharp and the makers of Roku TVs will come with a “Netflix Recommended TV” logo which will tell users at a glance that the particular set is recommended by the online video streaming service itself.
Several things will be judged before a TV is granted this logo which include how fast the app launches, fast resumption of paused video and more. Initially this will only be done in the U.S. before being rolled out to the handful of other markets in which Netflix currently functions.
