Motorola might be more famous at the moment among the layperson as a manufacturer of Android-powered smartphones, but this does not mean that they do not have business interests in other segments. No sir, the Motorola Scout 5000 that you see above is not meant for the Boy Scouts, but rather, this is a wearable device for your furry kid.

With a rather hefty $200 (£130) price tag, you might actually wonder what is the whole point of the Scout 5000? Well, how about this – it comes with integrated GPS tracking alongside a geo-fence alert that will be able to send out an alert directly to your smartphone whenever Fido decides to be a little bit naughty and exceed his or her boundaries. Not only that, there is also onboard Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, a pedometer and a wide-angle 720p resolution camera thrown into the mix.

Accompanied by a microphone and speaker, you will also be able to hear what is happening all around (perfect to send your pooch as a spy to eavesdrop, eh?), not to mention bark out orders from you. The microphone sports a “bark detection” mode which will notify you – sans the barking, of course.

I do wonder just what kind of water resistance this has – after all, some dogs do love splashing around in water.
