The Moto G is probably one of the more affordable and value for money phones around at the moment, but we know that there are some of you guys out there who might be more interested in getting your hands on the Moto G Google Play Edition as it comes with stock Android preinstalled on it.
Well the bad news is that if you were still on the fence as to whether you should get the device, you’re out of luck because it seems that Google has decided to stop selling the Moto G Google Play Edition. As you can see in the screenshot above, Google has stated on the Moto G Google Play Edition’s page that the handset is no longer for sale.
It is unclear as to why Google has decided to discontinue the Google Play Edition or if it means that we can look forward to the newer Moto G getting the Google Play Edition treatment. That being said we do admit it’s a little odd that Google/Motorola decided to launch these devices to begin with.
After all handsets like the Moto X and Moto G come with pretty much near-stock Android anyway, so the Google Play Edition didn’t make much sense, save for the more timely updates we suppose.
