Minecraft is a very popular game as it is so it didn’t surprise anyone when this title was released for mobile devices and quickly proved to be one of the best selling titles on smartphones and tablets. Mojang, the developer of this game, today released the official numbers which it jokingly referred to as “bigger than Texas,” “23 times hotter than the sun in summer time” and “more than the entire observable universe.
Mojang announced today that Minecraft: Pocket Edition has been purchased over 30 million times, that’s 30,000,000. It is available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone and even the Amazon Kindle Fire for $7, you do the math, it has earned big bucks for Mojang.
The popularity is one of the reasons why Microsoft was after the developer. Last year the Redmond-based company purchased Mojang for $2.5 billion, and reiterated that Minecraft will continue to be available on competing platforms.
To celebrate this incredible sales milestone Mojang has planned a question and answer session with the developers which will be broadcasted live over the internet. Questions can be submitted to this reddit thread, which will be picked up and answered live on air later this week.
