All these 4K TVs by LG will be powered by the company’s webOS 2.0 platform and the good news for would-be owners and current owners is that they have managed to add additional content to webOS 2.0, thanks to the partnering with a handful of companies which includes GoPro, DIRECTV, Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, HSN, SHOWTIME, Drama Fever, and iHeartRadio.
Thanks to these new partnerships, those who own LG’s smart TVs will have access to even more content than they did before. One of the partnerships that LG is highlighting is the one with GoPro. The GoPro Channel app will be exclusive to LG’s webOS smart TVs where users will be able to stream all sorts of GoPro videos on demand.
However this isn’t to say that LG’s other partnerships aren’t important. With DIRECTV, users will be able to access DIRECTV 4K and Full DIRECTV services, assuming they have a subscription to DIRECTV’s Genie HD DVR. As for Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube, these user will be able to stream 4K videos such as TV shows, movies, and music videos.
LG’s partnership with HSN will also allow users to make shopping via the channel much easier. This will be done through a HSN app that will be readily available on the LG Launcher Bar which will appear while watching the channel. SHOWTIME viewers will also be able to gain additional content such as trivia, polls, and access social features for SHOWTIME’s original series.
Last but not least, iHeartRadio’s partnership with LG will allow users to stream thousands of live radio stations at a click of a button, all from the comfort of their own home which they can enjoy further with the LG TVs’ built-in Harman/Kardon sound technology.
