According to a report from Reuters, LG has come forward in defense of the Snapdragon 810. LG’s vice president for mobile product planning, Woo Ram-chan, was quoted as saying, “I am very much aware of the various concerns in the market about the (Snapdragon) 810, but the chip’s performance is quite satisfactory.” He later adds, “I don’t understand why there is a issue over heat.”
At the moment the Snapdragon 810 is currently being used in the LG G Flex 2 which was launched at CES 2015. During our time with the phone for our hands-on review, we did not experience any issues like overheating. Perhaps we didn’t really put the phone through its paces, but for the most part there were no problems.
However the LG G Flex 2 does pack a Full HD display versus the Samsung Galaxy S6’s rumored QHD display which would require more power, so perhaps therein lies the difference. In any case we will have to wait and see what Samsung has planned, so do check back with us at a later date for the details.
