Denmark is the home country of Lego, the brick toy that has spawned thousands and thousands of sets over the years, not to mention kept generations of children occupied as they used their imagination in order to come up with choice characters and buildings of their own. Along the way, a Lego movie even spawned, and as part of paying tribute to the wonders of Lego, it seems that there will be a couple of different Lego-themed postage stamps released. These stamps have been specially launched on January 2 earlier this year, in line with the overall theme of national ‘Old Toys’, catering for the European Postal Service’s 2015 Europa theme.
The 10-krone ($0.16) stamp will boast of the protagonist within the Lego movie, whereas there will be a woman featured in the 14.5-krone rendition. They are both surrounded by several bricks, flying around in the midst of currency and country indicator tiles. Those living in the US need not make that long flight all the way to the Scandinavian country – you will be able to get your Lego stamp fix via the Denmark Stamp Agency in North America.
The colors on these postage stamps might not amount to much, but the retro look of it certainly ads to the overall charm, don’t you think so?
