There hasn’t been much love from the Microsoft Office team for Windows Phone, which is the Redmond-based company’s own mobile platform, even though Office recently got some pretty major updates on rival platforms. Obviously this has the Windows Phone community very concerned and they’ve criticized Microsoft for neglecting them. Joe Belfiore decided to do some damage control through his Weibo account and reiterated that “our Office team has not forgotten Windows Phone.”
For those who don’t know, Joe Belfiore has long been the public face of Windows Phone. He is also very active on social media platforms like Twitter, and Weibo, which makes it easier for users to reach out to him and get updates regarding apps and services.
Before you think that it’s unusual for Belfiore to talk about this through Weibo let me tell you that he chose China’s equivalent of Twitter because in his posts he also talked about some new Office features that Microsoft is working on “specifically for the China market.”
These announcements could be made at an event before the Chinese New Year. Microsoft already has a Windows 10 event scheduled for January 21st and its likely that it may talk about these Office for Windows Phone updates during that event.
Belfiore didn’t go into much details about these features so we’ll only have to wait and see what Microsoft has in store for Office fans on Windows Phone.
