If there is one thing great about concepts, it would be this – concepts allows you to let your imagination fly, as you can throw in whatever kind of hardware and software into the mix without taking into consideration the current limitations. The iMac truly carried a revolutionary design when it was first revealed all of those years ago, and we have also seen at least one concept of it surface in the past. This time would be another throwback iMac concept that will never see the light of day in reality, but it is worth spending a few minutes pondering over what could have and should have been.
Imagine if Apple took a similar design cue as those of its original, boxy desktop machines – ala the Apple II series, with the modern day iMac, complete with a slim aluminum unibody. This is what the designers over at Curved Labs envisioned when they came up with this particular throwback iMac concept. The design itself puts a modern look onto the old school Apple computers, and the conceptual iMac is touted (but of course) to come with all the trappings of a modern day desktop – including an 11.6” touchscreen display, 128GB of solid state storage, an SD memory card slot for expansion purposes, a camera and a microphone, among others.
No prizes for guessing which operating system it runs on though.
