It wasn’t too long ago that HTC had begun to send out invites to an event that they would be holding on the 1st of March which is when MWC 2015 is expected to kick off. It is safe to say that given that it is MWC, there is a good chance we could be looking at the announcement of the HTC One M9 “Hima”.
However an earlier report had suggested that we could be looking at more than just a smartphone launch and that HTC could surprise us all with a wearable as well. It is unclear as to what the device could be since wearables could signify smartwatches, fitness bands, headsets, and so on, but a report from Forbes has “confirmed” that we could be looking at a fitness band instead.
Forbes’ Jay McGrego claims to have heard from his source that HTC’s wearable will be a fitness band and that the company’s recent partnership with Under Armour was a hint at what was to come. Given that smartwatches tend to have fitness features, the idea of it being a smartwatch or fitness band was pretty much up in the air.
It is unclear as to what kind of features we might expect from HTC’s wearable, but if it is truly a fitness tracker, we can only assume it will share the same capabilities as other fitness trackers, such as heart rate monitoring, a pedometer, calorie counter, GPS, and etc. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us on the 1st of March for the official details.
